CONTEXT TO THE PROBLEM:
The Inheritors is an interactive talk show on Bloomberg Quint (a financial news channel), which addresses the survival of family-owned and inherited businesses in changing economic times. The show invited owners running some of the biggest family-run and family-owned businesses as guests, to discuss their journey and challenges of today, with a live audience of people running family-owned and inherited businesses from different walks of life in a conclave amphitheatre set to ask them questions in the discussion.
However, as COVID-19 made in-person interactions and crowd gatherings shut down, along with other shows, 'The Inheritors' moved to BQ Live- the channel's existing live streaming app where it was reduced to a mere podcast where audiences could no longer ask questions or take part. This project was aimed at bringing back the audience interaction which made the essence of the content, through a specially crafted digital experience of the show, rebranded to go on the existing BQ Live app.
RE-DESIGNING SHOW LOGO:
Previous Logo
-Disconnected from brand guidelines. Hence doesn't fit well with the other show logos in the 'List of shows' page on the BQ Live app.
-Too glamorous for the show. Visually expresses only a glamorous side of each business story
-Visual representation has no hints of keywords like 'family business', 'inheritance'.
-Thus not relatable of the content for new users who don't know about the show.

USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN:
As mentioned before, the show was an on-site experience in a conclave-ish amphitheatre set to ensure that the viewers asking the questions were visible from the stage as well as the audience.
However, as COVID-19 made events and crowd gatherings shut down, the show was reduced to a mere podcast where audiences could no longer ask questions or take part.
Previous experiences:
Thus, as both Podcasts and White Board meeting platforms prove insufficient, the User journey Map and the Task Flow with Rough Wireframes, are hence crafted to fit the show experience in the existing BQ Live app, as shown below:
USER INTERFACE DESIGN:
The visual importance of a conclave amphitheatre set in a news discussion is that the guest is clearly visible from all seats. The guest speaker too can see the crowd and how many people are listening to him from the centre.
Due to COVID-19 circumstances where crowds couldn't gather, the idea was hence to carry on this visual play of "feeling included" in the discussion, by bringing the visual representations of a 'Conclave Amphitheatre Setting' into the screens.
